I am using an Arlo, and I just set it using the geofencing feature to make it so that while my presence is detected, the camera detects motion and sends me an alert, but does not record video. While my presence is not detected, it sends me an alert and also records video. What I want to know is, what happens when I turn off my phone? I typically turn off my phone when I go to bed. What happens to the geofencing if my phone is off? Also, if my phone is off, obviously I will not get alerts from the Arlo. How do people get around this issue? Am I the only person who turns their phone off? I know there is a smartthings alarm I can get and I can probably have the alarm go off if the Arlo detects motion after a certain time of night. But is there anything else I can do besides just leave my phone on constantly?

wpascarelli,
The Geofencing and Alerts features are both dependent on your phone being turned on with the app running. Additional alerts via Smartthings, IFTTT recipes etc. could be useful if you still want to be alerted but do not want to leave your phone on. Consider browsing through the Arlo IFTTT channel to see if any of the recipes fit your needs.
