Please help

I have had the Arlo wireless camera for 1 week, I have been thru 2 sets of batteries. Last night I had 344 recordings in about 5 hrs. 2-3 recordings a minute, every minute and they are blank recordings, no movement. I have tried moving sensitivity everywhere from 1-80, changes nothing, same with motion detection. I have tried support via chat and phone, they have offered very little suggestions to help. They did offer to exchange the camera but want me to pay for shipping to send new camera first, WHAT? They say camera is defective but want me to pay. Or I can send them the one I have and after they receive it will send me another but that means I am without coverage for 2 weeks.

Please don't say move the camera, I tried moving it some but I bought it to observe a specific area.

Has anyone had this recording issue and found a solution or am I best just returning it and getting another brand that works?

An easy test to tell if camera is working is to bring it in to a temp location and aim at a wall about 5 feet away.

If you still get recordings with sense at default of 80%, the camera has problems.

Your number of recordings are exceding the 4 mins usage per day which is why the batteries are going quickly...excessive use can kill the batteries in no time at all.

If you need a camera that is going to record 24/7 then the Q camera may work if you can place it inside ( or view thru window at a lighted area ) or maybe another type is better suited to your needs.

Yes I did the wall test, no recordings. I was hoping this camera would work the way it is advertised. Motion detection recording. I'd like to see if someone walks up my driveway or when someone is near my vehicle in the driveway. Right now it doesn't even record what it is supposed to because it is busy recording nothing but that means the camera is busy and not able to record me when I walk around my driveway as a test. I am going to exchange it and try 1 more but my gut tells me it is just poorly engineered because the sensitivity level does not work.

So frustrating.

Hi,

Make sure you are adjusting the sensitivity within the 'mode/rule' and save it.

Within 'settings' you can also carry out a motion detection test, but that setting has no influence on the motion detection when armed.

Hope that helps.

Nick

Will tell you that the sense levels do work... but also very important is placement and what your trying to record.

The PIR is really ( IMO ) good only out to about 20 ft max... also the down angle of the camera is important to eleiminate false triggers / recordings.

One of the common things I see is users trying to cover to much area and then getting a lot of nothing because false triggers from reflections of car windows, blowing trees, etc.

I had the same problem yesterday. When I got home, I restarted the system, problem solved.

I'm new to the Arlo cameras but my experience with game cameras is that the motion is best detected when movement is left to right or vice versa. So, try changing the position to pick up side to side movement.
