The Arlo manual says they STRONGLY RECOMMEND using the non-recharging batteries - they discourage using rechargeable batteres as they pose a fire or burn hazards. That they can damage your camera. PLEASE ADVISE.

Yes, in the beginning rechargeables were ok... since then, to many counterfit or poor quality batteries out there cause problems.... they changed their minds and now ( prob rightly ) 'strongly recommend' the regular oem primary cells.
It is not the fact that a properly operating battery will hurt the camera, just that sometimes batteries go bad... think of the problems with cell phones, laptops, those roller wheels a short time back... all at one time with li-ion had a heat/fire problems
Li-ion cells can put out a large amount of current in a short time ( = heat ) , much more than primary cells and that's the main reason...safety

So with all the prior discussions on buying rechargeable batteries I brought a bunch of batteries and now I should use them? You guys said at first it was ok when I raised this before I brought them. Someone posted if it were not for rechargeable batteries they would have returned these cameras a long time ago???

I was just giving you Netgear's view on the rechargeables..... which I thought you were asking.
Read Netgears policy info on them
As to usage, that's a decision you have to make for yourself, no one else can make it for you.
I can say I and many others do use them and I haven't had any problems...you just have to be aware of the possiblity ANYTIME you use any device be it phone, laptop, etc that uses li-ion cells.
I run GOOD NAMED BRANDED batteries and a quality charger... the batteries have a PCB to prevent possible problems as such and quality batteries do have better QC right off the bat.
