I am seriously considering the Arlo system from my home security solution, as it seems to have all the features for my application. As it does not require a base station as the Arlo wire-free camera, it appears the Arlo Q is a basic home secuirty camera, but proprietary to the Arlo system. So, my question is, can this camera be used on other systems, or can other cameras be used within the Arlo system?

No to question one.
No to question two.
The Q and Arlo cams are proprietary to the Arlo system.Tho the Q functions thru you own wifi system while the Arlo cams talk only to the Arlo base ( which sets up its own wifi just for the cameras )
There is no local storage of video unless downloaded after... all data goes to the cloud servers and then back to you.
