Is it OK to use the on/off switch on the rear of the Base Station if I want to quickly turn it off and on. Will it disrupt the settings or cause damage to the unit. ??

No damage but it will wear the camera batteries down quickly trying to connect to a non-existent base.

No damage. Settings should remain intact. As jguerdat said, the cameras will drain their batteries pretty quickly if you leave the base station off for any decent length of time but if you're just trying to power cycle the base for any reason, it's a good way to do it
