two step verification on new phone

I have a new phone. when i open the app and go through the sign in, the two step verification sends a push to my old phone (not in use) and i have a choice to send that code to my email, which i do. However, when i enter the code it says "this device cannot be trusted right now. try again". I have been trying for a week.

If you uninstall the app and download again from the app store, do you still experience the same behavior?

Tried that and it didnt. just did it again and it did work. thank you.
