Just purchased Arlo 5 camera system. Setup requires an ethernet connection to my wireless router. I am using an Apple router model A1392 and it has only one ethernet port which is in use. There is an open USB port. How do I make this work?  Can the ethernet port be split like the USB can?

You canno t use the USB... add a cheap switch to the internet port and then plug into there ..so yes you can split the ethernet port

Thanks for your reply. I have the same issue, bought the switch but it doesn't seem to be working. Basically I have my modem, then coming out of it is the ethernet cable, which I then plug into the switch. Coming out of the switch is an ethernet cable for the router and one for the Arlo system. Is that how it is supposed to be configured? Thanks! (P.S. My router is an Airport Express that only has a single port for an ethernet cable. I have a feeling that it keeping me from being able to configure it as it needs to be.)

The switch is AFTER the router.  The modem typically can only assign one IP address and that would be to the router so the modem must be connected to only the router.  Depending on the router and/or your network configuration, there may be no available ports from the router to allow the base to be plugged in.  Thus, you would unplug one device from the router and install the switch in that place.  The switch has 3 or more available ports to be used for additional devices - plug that newly unplugged device in as well as the base.  They will share the connection to the router.
