cant add cameras or NexGear base station. in the app

how do i find the network key to connect to NexGear network so i can view footage  and obsurve on my phone

You don't.  It is a closed wifi network that is only used to connect the cameras to the base station.

 

You access recordings, etc. using the Arlo app on your phone and/or browsing to my.arlo.com on a PC.

With older base stations ( VMB4000, VMB4500), you can only see cloud recordings in the app.  If you want to see local recordings on the USB drive, then you need to eject the USB storage and connect it to a PC for viewing.

 

There are two newer models (VMB4540 and VMB5000) which support direct access to local storage from the app, but they are branded Arlo, not Netgear.  (Netgear divested Arlo back in 2018).
