Why not use existing wifi

Why are arlo base stations creating their own wifi network, why can't I use my existing network? I have an existing wide area mesh network installed and would like to use arlo doorbells and chimes in different places to far apart to cover with one base station. I am not willing to buy any extenders or more base stations as I already have a working wifi network in place.

Are there any plans to let people use their existing wifi networks?
