Is the recycle bin gone? I can't find it. It is helpful to be able to have the chance to retrieve a deleted video.

That sure creates a problem for inadvertently deleted videos, or those that didn't seem too relevant until later on when you find you need a particular video to prove a point.

Don't you mean:
"The recycling bin has been removed so if you accidentally delete a video or decide later that you, in fact, do want to keep that video, you are SOL."
Seriously, do you not understand the concept of a Recycle Bin????
Why not include Recycle Bin usage in the user's capacity and only when there is no more capacity will it automatically purge videos from the Recycle Bin starting from the oldest?
Removing it altogether is unacceptable.

I download all my videos daily so I'm never missing anything. If you want the Python script to do so, PM me your email address.
In a previous life, the Recycle Bin supposedly worked for a period of time based on your plan. In reality, it was sometimes enforced, frequently not. Some people complained it was a privacy issue to be there so it got removed. you have at least 7 days to download your videos, you just have to be proactive rather than reactive. What would be needed if you decided that the video you wanted was beyond the Recycle Bin's capacity (assuming it was enforced)? That's why when a user here posted that he had a script to download the files, I jumped on it. I'm not relying on anyone but me.
FWIW, the videos are currently still there. For how long is anyone's guess. A script user recently told me he had found videos from 61 days ago which is far beyond most people's old RB. You do have access to them, if you want.

The removal of the Recycle Bin is a huge stratigic mistake for Arlo security system. This is about being able to retrieve a video that at first thought was not significant, but later, needs to be reviewed to make sure something was not missed. Arlo was a great system, but the removal of the Recycle Bin makes it a second class citizen among the market. RETURN THE RECYCLE BIN!

There may be utility in having the bin return but what about when the bin has been cleared due to the time restrictions of your plan? That is, the basic plan in the old system allowed (officially) 7 days in the library and then 7 days in the bin. How much time is enough? How do you (rhetorically) balance that with folks who wanted the bin to go away because they had privacy concerns?
It's always been good form to download videos proactively. That's why I use a user-developed (not me) Python script to do it for me daily. If you want the script, send me a PM with your email address and I'll send it off to you with basic instructions. Quite a few users here have installed this and have recovered old videos as well as keeping current so the bin will never be an issue again.

I agree the recycle bin needs to be put back. Please send me the python script. I lost pictures that I desperately need back. Is there a main server that can retrieve anything for you?
As noted in my post you need to PM me your email address.

Agreed, this is a UI blunder. Doesn't simplify or save any steps but results in reduced functionality.
I mistakenly deleted a video the day after the new UI pushed to production and found I couldn't get it back. Product Management asleep at the wheel on this one.

Best solution at the moment is DON'T delete videos from the library. Once gone, they're gone. Downloading videos is your only recourse - be proactive.

I'd like a copy of your script. Can you please kindly post it online somewhere for us to get like on GitHub?

How do I recover lost video?

It depends on how it's "lost". Deleted is deleted - I recommend never deleting a thing since the space limitation isn't being enforced.
If it has simply scrolled off due to the plan you're on (7 days for the free plan), it may be possible to see previous days by temporarily subscribing to a paid plan. You may then be able to see videos from those earlier but >7 days but no guarantee. If that works, you can download those videos and cancel your subscription.
In the future, proactively download any videos of potential use to prevent this from being an issue.

I recently had a robbery and when i filed my police complaint, police asked if there was a way of recovering those videos so they could look through them to look for the criminals. Please can someone help me.

There's no way to recover videos now - what worked in the past no longer works. My general advice is to never delete videos since they can't be recovered and to pro-actively download any/all videos for your own storage.
