Hi all

I am hoping someone can help me, I just can't quite pinpoint the correct answer

We purchased the VMS3430 for a small business, which runs on a business network, with a Sophos firewall.

After checking ports 80 and and 443 were open, we then were told that this model is not compatible with a business network and that the business set up advertised online was for "small businesses on a home network"

HOWEVER, since perservering with my query, I was then told I needed to contact my IT department to have it configured correctly - does this not assume that it is compatible on a business network???

I am so confused and no answer seems to be definite. I am hoping that someone who knows the answer will read this and be able to tell me if there is a possible way to configure with a business network behind a Sophos Firewall, or if I do in fact need to (try to) return the equipment to where I purchased it from.

Thanks in advance, Alice

I can't speak with any authority but as an ex-IT person, I'd say that as long as you or your IT/network folks can open ports 80 (http), 443 (https) and 123 (ntp) to netgear.com, all should work fine.  The issue so far has been getting the network folks to allow that access.  It's not insurmountable as long as you work together with them.

Basically, there's nothing about a business network that precludes the use of Arlo other than the required ports being open.  It's a security issue, not a business vs. home one.
