No idea if I selected the correct location for my question.  Sorry.  If the wrong location and you know what location I need to post this, please let me know.

I have one camera that triggers on movement with me walking in front of the camera, but camera won't trigger when moving the end of a broom stick in the area I walk.  I'm trying to get the camera to trigger on my sump pump when it activates.  I've turned on sensitivity to 100%.   Still no trigger with a stick moving.  I've tried with light on in room and no light.  The camera is pointing down, in the viewing area and over 7' from the floor in the room.

To note, I have other cameras outside that trigger when blades of grass move 3 feet away from camera.

VMB4000r3 version 1.26.0.0_4712_12a0681

Camera Firmware 1.125.17.1_11de8490d Hardware H5

The cameras use a passive infrared (PIR) sensor to detect motion, so basically they are looking for a change in heat (infrared radiation).  I'm not surprised that your broomstick doesn't trigger the sensor.

If the area is usually quiet and the sump pump makes enough sound when it turns on, then you could try audio detection.

Stephen,

Thanks!  Yeah, I was just hoping since my outside ones respond to a leaf falling or grass blowing that it would respond to stick in doors.  I also thought of audio detection.  I'll give it a shot.
