Have you been using this base all along or is this a new installation? For the former, remove all devices in your account and then add the base to your account normally. If it's the latter, if someone else has been using the base prior to your attempts, they will need to remove the base from their account before you can add it to yours.

Any chance a VPN is in use? If so, disable it for setup and re-enable it later. Have you tried the reset process of holding the base reset button until the LEDs flash amber (>10 seconds)? Let it reboot and try again. You may also want to power cycle your router and base, in that order.

VPN is not in use, I have reset the base several times, holding the reset button for more than 10 sec, also restarted the router and  restarted the base thereafter.

to avoid bugs I don't have knowledge of, also tried by using my iphone, my ipade and my PC to overcome the problem

I had a similar problem some time ago with an older base. It appeared to be working but I couldn't add it to the account. I called the ISP with no luck so then tried a different base - which worked first time.

The original base was recycled...
