Total Security Mount - cannot attach Mount housing to backplate

Hey, has anyone else had trouble attaching the Total Security Mount housing to the backplate. The instructions https://kb.arlo.com/000062332/How-do-I-use-my-Arlo-Total-Security-Mount are straight forward however I find I am unable to complete step 3B 'Turn the housing clockwise, until it clicks in place'.

Problem is the security screw in the housing has a washer on it (inside) that prevents me from unscrewing it enough to turn the housing clockwise and click into place.

Not sure what I am doing wrong here. Any assistance would be appreciated.
