Probably an old notice. Given Netgear sell the Tenergy batteries and charger, I think you can be assured they work just fine

History...

At first rechargeables were allowed in Arlo cameras,,,then there were so many fake/bad cells out there causing problems Netgear decided it was safer to not recommend them.

Now they have approved a charger and cells combo with the necessary safeness, so it's back to rechargeables
