The system stopped functioning 4 days ago at our home in Indio. We are back in Minnesota for the summer. I read that there is a possibility to update? the base station through the settings menu but "base station" doesn't appear.
Thanks

Yes, unfortunately, if the base station goes offline, the cameras spend an inordinate amount of energy trying to find it and it depletes the batteries very quickly. I'm sure once the batteries are replaced, it'll be all good.
PS. Consider rechargeable batteries for significant cost savings

If the base station is connected, you can restart it through the app or web interface. If it doesn't appear in the app or website at all, it will need someone to physically turn it off and turn it on again

As a PS to above;
If you know your wifi is working there but the base is off line, then you may want to look at a Wemo outlet ( about $35 ) allows to to remotely unplug the unit via wifi.
Also, many use UPSs in remote locations to cover the short term opower outages that can occur

A neighbor who has Arlo kindly checked my base station. All the lights looked right be he de-powered and re-powered the unit. One of the three cameras is now live the other two report "off line". The functioning camera had a full battery 5 days ago but is now at 3%. Looks like a base station malfunction causes stress to the camera batteries.
He is going to replace all three and we'll see what happens.
Thanks to both people who posted suggestions. I intend to obtain the suggested wi-fi power outlet.

The Arlo manual discourages rechargeables but makes a clear distinction between inexpensive inadequate and expensive adequate brands. I am not at this house for 5 months so need batteries that can go the distance. Are rechargeables capable of this?

Duration is so variable. I have cameras positioned down the sides of my house which I pretty much get one recording per day of at 4am when the neighbor's cat walks past. These cameras easily have battery lives of over 6 months. Other cameras cover the front yard / driveway and another for the backyard. Given our comings and goings, the cameras in busy areas are far more active and thus the batteries don't last as long. Also, every time you live stream, every time you even log into your app or arlo website, the base polls the cameras to check their status. This uses battery power.
Most other users seem to think the lithium single use batteries last the longest but I'm finding my rechargeables last longer, HOWEVER, it also may be that my system is now well fine tuned for motion sensitivity and I no longer deal with a lot of false alerts

Thanks to everyone who responded to my remote Arlo failure. My California neighbor kindly replaced batteries in all three cameras and system is 100% now.
Different question: The range on the motion sensor seems to be 20 feet maximum AND requires lateral motion to be most effective. Is this consistent with others experience?
Thanks again.
