Recording is very inconsistent

Just got my Arlo (2 cameras) yesterday and setup was very simple and straight foward.

Only issue now is the recording, or lack of, is very inconsistent. I have a camera set up in front of the house and 1 in the back of the house facing the backyard.

The front camera gets alot more motion than the back, I would get alerts for cars coming up and down the street, mailman, blowing leaves, etc. However, it didnt record when I came out of the house, when my neighbor moved their car, when someone was parking their car etc. I have the motion detection set in the 80-85 range, do I need to move this up to 100? Hoever, I dont want to get an alert for a blowing leaf or branch as well.

The backyard camera didnt record when I went out to the backyard this morning until I got within 1 foot of the camera. I have the motion detection in the 80-85 rnage as well.

Any advice?

Thanks!

Checkmate FAQs here for helping positioning the cameras properly. The usual problem is trying to get too much in the view. Unless you really need the street rotate the camera down to eliminate that and focus only on the doorway or area of real interest. There's also the sensitivity setting in your modes (more FAQs on this, too).

Thanks for advice.

I dont think there is a way for me not to focus it more on the street, otherwise I would just be looking at the sidewalk.

Anyhow, I have a new issue now. I havent had a recording in over 5 hours and I set the motion dection to 100%. This is not possible as we have cars, neighbors, etc walking up and down the street.

I am strongly considering bringing these back to Bestbuy as these are useless if they dont record when there is motion.....

Positioning is key in many ways. Motion is best detected across the FOV, not directly at the camera. Read the FAQs here for explicit directions.

faxwoods,

The article jguerdat is referring to for positioning tips can be found here: How do I position my Arlo Wire-Free or Arlo Pro Wire-Free camera?

It may help us better understand the issue if you post a screenshot from the cameras perspective.
