Range extender for Arlo base (router)

Is it true that you can't use a range extender (like the NetGear N300 to extend the range of the Arlo Base Station? I'n not interested in extending the range of my standard router and moving the Arlo base.

It wouldn't allow the range too be extended but would allow the base to be more favorably placed so all cameras get a better connection. A second base attached to an extender would have sort of the effect of extending the base reach but not really. And you'd need to find a second base for sale since Netgear doesn't sell them separately.
