Hi,

I would like to know how exactly the Base recording work.

1.Can you plug a USB flash drive or it have to be a hard drive with external power?

2.Do they auto erase the old clips on is full?

3.Do you still get the free cloud storage at the same time it record to the base station?

4.Can you see the base station videos outside of

5. If WiFi down does it still record to the base drive?

Thanks

The original arlo hd base does NOT use a usb backup tho the port is there  ( model 3000 ) , that only started with the Pro base ( 4000 model )  AS this is posted in the Arlo section which is the 3000 model

But if a newer base model then it works as follows;

1) A mem stick/ flash drive is easier and requires no extra power, tho many external HDs do and will work ( max 1 TB , IIRC ), also some mem stick do not work

2) you can toggle on the auto delete as it gets filled., your choice

3) yes... if turned on it records to the cloud and mem stick at same time for triggered events/motion...free is with legacy cameras up to 7 days

4) Not sure of question,  tho newer units allow you to see the videos without pulling mem stick , normally you would remove the mem stick and view in external device. It is intended as a backup

5) If ARMED prior to losing wifi AND backup is turned on..., yes it should still record to the mem stick, tho of course you have no control over the cameras while wifi is down
