Outdoor Camera Doesn't Always Pick Up Motion

During the day the camera doesn't always pick up motion until subject has passed almost all the way through area being monitored. Doesn't matter right to left or reversed. There is an outdoor light above camera that allows area being monitored to be very well alluminated at night. Nothing at night has ever shown up on the camera.
