Hi, just purchased a Arlo camera pack with basestation and 2 wireless cameras.

But I am surprised to see that I cannot mark a specific area for movement detection? Or am I missing something?

No... Zones are not available in the Arlo / Arlo PRO cameras.  They are available in the Q series.

The PIR that detects motion covers the whole field of view.

So if I buy a camera in the q series it can be connected to my existing basestation?

No... the Q series connect directly to your HOME wifi and also is not outdoor rated.

Do you know if that functionality is in the works?  I am coming from Logitech (who no longer supports their cameras) and you were able to paint sections of the view for detection.  It was a very useful way to cut down on false positives which helps netgear save on drive space and us.  Arlo (Non Q) are the outdoor cameras so it is especially helpful there.  Hopefully there is a development pipeline and this is in the works.
