My original Arlo went offline and all cameras battery drained in two days. Is it normal?

It can be... If the base unit goes off line, the cameras keep trying to reach out and detect the base... this can heavily drain the batteries.  If possible, the base running off a UPS prevents this ( esp in remote locations like vac homes )
