Multiple VMC3030 not recording after motion

Hello,

I have had a lot of trouble getting my HSS to work the way I want it to, and was hoping somebody knowledgeable here could help me out.

I recently moved into a house with three VMC3030 cameras and a VMB3000 Base Station. (Also an Arlo Wireless Doorbell, but i assume that is not part of my problem.)

If i understand everything I read about the EOL and device functionality, i should be able to make my camera's start a recording when motion is detected, and then view these recordings without a subscription, correct?

However, nothing I do seems to make the camera's start a recording by themselves.

I can make manual recordings and view them, so I assume that means my products are eligible for free 7-day storage.

Who knows what's going on? Are my motion detections not triggering right? It seems to work when i test the camera's in the app.

Do I not have free cloud storage after all? Are recordings upon motion detection broken for VMC3030 by Arlo updates?

I finally figured it out, after hours of troubleshooting.

I will admit it the problem was in part due to myself, and in part due to the stupid way in which the whole 'arm' away/'arm home'/'Standby' things are implemented in the app. Very unintuitive location, and very convoluted way to make my devices operate in the desired way. I indeed needed to 'arm' my camera's for the desired behaviour. And the way to go about this, is to go to a 'Routines' tab, then add a device to a routine, and then add a behaviour to the device.

What the hell? Who came up with that UI? I bet 99% of people will first go to device settings when they want to set up a behaviour for it.

I am very thankful of your Time, StephenB, apologies for wasting it.

You do.  If you didn't, then you wouldn't be able to make manual recordings.

First, are the cameras armed?

Second, have you tried the motion detection test?

Details on how to check both depend on whether you see "Feed" and "Dashboard" in your app menu, or if you see "Library" instead.  If you need tailored suggestions, please let us know which you see.
