Motion detector question

Short question: I'm setting my motion detector for my outside camera at 100% but am still not getting alerts. I tested it at various motion settings and saw the LED light on the camera come on. And when it does catch something and send an alert to my iPhone, it's usually at the very end of the motion it's capturing. Any tips?

The range for the Arlo with people is maxed at about 20 ft ...

Alerts as pushes come at the start of recording, email alerts come at the end of recording
