I have arlo hd wireless security cameras. Is there going to be any upgrade to the motion detection. As a security camera the motion detection is poor to say the least. The delay when the camera starts recording and the fact the cameras dont pick up movement front on is a big flaw. What if anything is Arlo doing to improve the essential function of motion detection.

We'll be getting Arlo Pro from April 12 (hopefully) through Harvey Norman, JB Hifi and probably Noel Leeming at least.

The Arlo Pro cameras have significantly better motion detection, significantly less lag between motion and recording, and a rechargeable battery plus mic+speaker.

However, even the Arlo Pro probably won't respond well to motion towards the camera. PIR sensors all work by the heat signature crossing the FOV. You may need to consider alternative placement to optimise the motion detection

The PRO unit, BTW, has a dual PIR which inproves pick up of motion ... also it has a small built in buffer which improved the response time.

TMK, On trigger event, the Arlo sends a signal to the base and the base responds to start recording...the PRO starts recording instantly to the small buffer and then sends a signal to base and all then goes down stream.  diff between the two methods almost elimnates the 2+ sec lag on start up seen with Arlo.

Either way, placement for proper response/record is important.
