First of all, let me say that selling a pair of cameras with only one outside mounting device makes an incorrect assumption. There should be sets with two outdoor mounts. So I have to use both outdoor and indoor mounts for outdoor use.
The outdoor mount is hanging vertically from an overhang from the roof with the side bar extended parallel to the overhang. While I have gotten it to pick up the correct space I want to montior, it shows it upside down on my phone. How can I fix this? It did not work to keep it totally vertical.
I tried the indoor mount two ways, with a screw on the overhang or a screw on a vertical board underneath the overhang. Using it on the overhang feels sturdy until I attach the camera sort of sideways, and then I worry that the camera might fall since I have to tilt it to view down an alleyway toward a door. And if I hang it more normally on the vertical board, it does not get a really good view and attaching it sideways also feels kind of flimsy in terms of the camera possibly falling off. So I am stuck as to what to do to secure the indoor mount outside. I already have an indoor burglar alarm system and don't need the Arlo camera indoors.

There are many mounts that will fit the Arlo cameras ( the threaded mount )... Netgear sells them and many other locations too.
The Half ball mount will work fine out side ... for most ( not all ) locations. If in a place where you think its a problem, add a short tether to the mount going to the threaded hole ( 1/4-20 thread pitch bolt ) so it can't fall far if knocked by someone/thing ( tho the screw camera mounts are usu more secure )
If you mount the camera upside down, there is a toggle in the cameras settings to flip the view over...very simple.

Hmmm... do you think they should package the cameras with 2 outdoor mounts? Or maybe 2 indoor mounts? Giving one of each showcases that there are more than just one mount available. Also, there are people who buy a 2 camera system and put one camera outside and one inside. To suit your specific needs, you can buy additional mounts.
For the upside down image, as above, go into the camera settings menu and under "video settings" is the option to "invert image"

Re the upside down problem, when I go into Settings, then My Devices, then click on the device, then Video Settings, there is something named Rotate Image (as opposed to the other labels mentioned above). However, this button would not turn on for the longest time until just now: because I could not see the view at night, I turned the camera upside down, then the Rotate Image setting made an effort to turn to green. However, all I have right now is a spinning gear symbol on the view of the outside and only a very light green on the setting bubble. Does it take a long time to produce this 180 degree turn?
I also noticed after my initial post that the second camera, the one with the magnet mount, has a sideways view, so is there any way to rotate the image 90 degrees? Assuming this will even rotate at all.The gear has been turning for at least 10-15 minutes at this point.
I am not sure what you mean by a tether--some kind of bolt perhaps? With particular dimensions. I did not understand that advice too well.
As far as the mounts go, basically I think you should be able to buy a complete set for your needs. So they should be available with two outside mounts or two indoor mounts or one and one. OR just go ahead and meet everyone's needs by including two of each kind. That would be the most practical; then you know what you are paying for the set and don't have to worry about buying additional equipment.

Let me add that the gear stopped turning finally and the button for reversing the image is now in the ON position, but the picture did not change. It is still upside down.

Nuts4Cats,
Consider a base station reboot (using the on-off button) and try again. Are you still seeing the same behavior?
