IFTTT Arlo not working

I have the Arlo system with 2 cameras and had been using IFTTT recipes successfully up until approx 2 weeks ago.  They now only work as a trigger to disarm/arm the arlo base station,

They wont work if the trigger is for example:

'arlo motion'- IFTTT trigger -  record video on my homeboy device OR turn on WEMO plug OR send text applets, none work anymore.

IFTTT receipes work the other way round though, for example

'homeboy disarmed/armed' - IFTTT trigger - Disarm /arm arlo base station

'Sunset' - IFTTT trigger - arm arlo

The above tells me that the Arlo service is talking to IFTTT but for some unknown reason the applets that are 'triggered' by an arlo event just stopped working after approx 18 months of working fine.

I have disconnected the Arlo service and reconnected on IFTTT, deleted all Arlo receipes/applets and started again.  Reset the base station and still no joy.  Event log in IFTTT lists failed events stating 'problem with the arlo service'

Is any one using IFTTT successfully to trigger something else on an Arlo event, eg arlo motion triggers something else to happen on another device?

I have a support case open with Arlo but would like to know if its just me or others are having this issue too.

Just chipping in my 2 cents. Have had an Arlo setup for a few months now, tried to tie it into IFTTT. Account registration works fine, but both the IFTTT app and their website fail to load the response from Arlo when they need to list the available cameras. Pitty, really.

Won't put me off using these for the time being, but if I ever need to upgrade, I'll probably look at something else.

Issues with IFTTT still persist.  Unable to create applets/ triggers between my AMAZON ECHO, ABODE HOME SECURITY, AND ARLO.  UNACCEPTABLE!  The IFTTT option was the reason spent some serious money on this product.  Please address and fix it.

Same problem...IFTTT not able to connect to Arlo.  And since Arlo doesn't support HomeKit, I'm becoming less enamored of this system in general.

Still not working 21st Dec. Very annoying as I'd read the poor reviews about the delay recording and I thought it would be OK using my Smartthings door sensor to trigger the recording. I've only had Arlo for 3 days so still soon enough to return it as it's not as described.

My camera covers my entire garden and never records anyone entering the garden, it starts recording after they're already at the door so I can only see the top of their head. Same when the leave all I see is the gate closing. I have sensors on my gate and door so linking to that should solve the issue by triggering the recording earlier to account for the delay.

I'll give it a week before returning them and buying something else. Really annoying as my first impressions were good and being in a rented house I didn't have to make holes for cables.

I found a workaround for my issue. I've made a Stringify account and added only my smartthings hub and Arlo camera. I made the trigger I wanted on there very easily. Just waiting to get home and see if it records me entering or just a video of the closed door after I'd walked away

Not sure if this is Netgear's issue or IFTTT's...  Regardless, do yourself a favor and get Stringify.

I can't say that Stringify supports as many things as IFTTT, but for my use case it does everything I need and more.  The biggest advantage of Stringify over IFTTT is that it adds conditionals ("If X happens when Y is true, then do Z").  It also lets you trigger multiple things in sequence.  The "flows" can get to be pretty complex.  It's still in its infancy, but it's powerful with a lot more potential!

I too am getting really disgusted with Arlo. Terrible customer service. My IFTTT & Arlo stopped working too & they obviously don’t care as this has been an issue since mid-September. I will post poor reviews of Arlo everywhere I can until they take responsibility and get this fixed. I get error message 404.

Yes , I’m getting the same 404 error, it change it was a 500 error, I believe they have a network problem, possible firewall, load balancer, or server.

seems like Arlo doesn’t know how to troubleshoot the on going problem

HTTP 404, 404 Not Found and 404 (pronounced "four oh four") error message is a Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP) standard response code, in computer network communications, to indicate that the client was able to communicate with a given server, but the server could not find what was requested.

Hi Brian,

There have been issues with Arlo for quite awhile, and we're hoping that they can take the steps to resolve the problem soon. We're in touch and hope that the service won't be having problems for too much longer now.

You can subscribe to the status page for updates, and I'll email you when the issue is resolved so you can attempt to set up Applets with Arlo again at that time: status.ifttt.com

Sorry for the bad news, but I hope the information is helpful.
Thanks,

The IFTTT Team”

FWIW, it also appears Arlo might be giving back bad info from a status check to Stringify: https://forums.stringify.com/t/arlo-when-conditions/3364/1

Seems like Arlo has some major API issues to take care of.

I just received my Arlo Q. I purchased the Arlo series because it is advertised to work with IFTTT. I’m getting a 404 error during applet setup, and it appears to be an issue between Netgear and IFTTT. Got any idea for me to try before I return the camera?

Use Stringify.  It should do what you are looking to do and potentially a lot more.

i thought it was something i was doing wrong until i read this thread! mine was working flawlessly for months, then, all of a sudden, it just stopped! i ran through the usual process, disconnect, reconnect, delete, start over, several times to no avail. as of 12/25/17 4.48pm, arlo and IFTTT are not compatible. i can't return mine, but i certainly won't be buying more as i was planning to do in the next week or so. none of the units i have work and it's all of a sudden. netgear really needs to get their product support in check.

Just set mine up today and it's not working. Says "Loading...." under the which device option while setting up a recipe. Any suggestions?

I tried the Google Assistant  DISARM applet today and it is producing the same "Loading" error.  Google Home is huge this Christmas.  You had better give this applet some priority.

Hard to believe that you would break IFTTT and leave it broken for months.  Most companies would reverse out the update.  I am guessing you have adopted Agile Testing and neglected to implement any Standards.

I don't think it is applet related.  The ARM action is broken.  If you create your own Applet it fails when you try and link the ARM action.  Arlo only has a couple of actions.  It's been months now. How hard can it be to fix a couple of IFTTT actions ?

I have just tried adding an IFTTT recipe and get the 404 error now!  This is beyond a joke, problems since September with Arlo and IFTTT.  I wont touch a Netgear product again due to the lack of support

What has now really pissed me off is i delinked my arlo ifttt account as advised which has deleted all IFTTT actions even the few that still worked, like : arm/diasarm homeboy - which then armed/disarmed the arlo.  This is meant to be a security system for goodness sake, its useless as it cant be relied on.

I have now registered at Stringify and the 'flows' (triggers/actions) as they call them work HOWEVER how long will it be before Netgear/Arlo decides to break that as well????  I just have no faith left it the reliability of Arlo being stable with it.

IFTTT integration isn’t working for me either. I purchases an Arlo pro base and 3 cameras yeaterday, 12/27/17 and downloaded the IFTTT app today, 12/28/17. The Arlo cameras work fine with a wink hub 2 and the stringify app, but are not found in the IFTTT app. IFTTT is also working fine with other products around the house. Right now i’m connecting Arlo to stringify and then to IFTTT, but it’s be great if it were more seamless.

When trying to set a “this” statement, no arlo decices are found, and when trying to set it in a “that” statement, i get a 404 not found error. No recipes with Arlo will work.

I get error message 404 as well. This wouldn’t even be an issue for me if i coukd just arm and disarm the arlo base fron within the Wink app. I don’t understand why Netgear seems to be making the Arlos barely compatible with so many systems

Ongoing problem with Arlo, I’m getting the same 404 error, using stringify is the workaround, it appears Arlo support just isn’t there

I have the exact same problem. I tried the Google Assistant ARM and DISARM applets today and they are both producing the same "Loading" error. I tried disconnecting the apps then reconnecting. I tried using both the main Arlo account and my subaccount, and neither works. When I turn on the applet it says "There was a problem processing the request" and at the bottom, where is says "arlo > Which device," the applet says "Loading" and nothing happens. Please fix!
