  • I am in the UK and I have a system from 2019. I don’t think the cameras are able to cover the latest software updates. Arlo is showing online but I’m restarted it anyway and the cameras respond to movement but aren’t recording. I’ve checked that they are set to record. I’ve restarted them changed the batteries et cetera. Any ideas

Thanks, I do understand the risk. How do I try to reinstall? I’ll let you know how it goes.😀

What cameras do you have?  They can't be essentials, since the batteries are not removable from those cameras.

Hi, they us 123 batteries so I believe they must be original Arlo Wireless HD cameras. Does this help?

They use 123a batteries so I think they are Arlo original HD

Yes, they must be the original VMC3030 cameras.

How about the base?  There should be a VMBxxxx label on it.

Also, are you seeing "Feed" and "Dashboard" in the app menu?  Or are you instead seeing "Library"?

If you see "Feed", did the problem begin when your account was migrated to "Feed"?

Yes it is Vmb3500. Library has changed to feed and I suppose the problem started then but we were away at the time.

Arlo mods often suggest removing one camera from the account and then re-adding it.  If this works, it would resolve the problem for all your cameras.  The risk is that the re-add will fail, and since the cameras are end-of-life, there is no support.

I do appreciate your help and forgive my ignorance but I can’t remember how to remove the camera and reinstall it – it’s been so long since I bought this. I know that it’s out of date but really we use it for a bit of security and mainly monitoring wildlife in our garden!

Support may end but it doesn't mean EOL products should stop working. They're not apples that go off after some time. If Arlo's products stop working, or to be more precise, deliberately made to stop working (something similar to what Apple did with older products, except that it had to do with the performance, not even devices completely stopping to work, and the whole thing cost them quite a lot in the end), especially that they're CCTV and in some cities, CCTV is decades old, Arlo's really begging for another legal case about that.

You remove it from the account - go into the camera settings, and then select "device info". You'll see "Remove Device" from the bottom.

Agreed.

But at the end of the day, some users have found that they cannot add their legacy devices back to their account after removal.  I think it's important that @BoyfromHull understand that risk before removing a camera from his account.

Absolutely @StephenB

I have both (at the moment) one Arlo Pro 2 and one Arlo HD connected to VMB5000. I can remove and add them several times, without any difficulty.

But I can't add any cameras to VMB4500, though there is supposedly to be field trial firmware in the making that will address that. When, I have no idea - they don't seem to have deadlines at Arlo, although it was supposed to be ready before Christmas.

I know my other VMB3000 and VMB4000 are on the current firmware but I've not attempted to have the cameras added or removed from them (Arlo Pro 2 and Arlo HD).

Keep us posted @BoyfromHull

You just need to remove them from the account (using the app) - try only one to start with and to add it again. If successful, then you can proceed with the others. However, I'm unsure why you'd need to do that if the only thing that you probably you'd need to do is to work on your routines, which are not automatically set up when the change from 'Library' to the new user interface took place.
