I bought a NAS and set it up but when I connected it to the Arlo base, it was not recognized. It is the Buffalo Link station 210 2Tb.

The USB ports on your NAS are for compatible USB hard drives/SSDs, flash drives, printers, and UPS. You can't use them to transfer data to/from a PC or to/from the Arlo base. The NAS isn't designed for that. See page 7 of your NAS manual:
