How to change email

I'm trying to change my email address for my account since I don't really use that account anymore....  It's telling me that the address I want to replace it with "already exists".   Of course, it already exists!  Why won't it allow me to make the change?

It sounds like the email used for the login user name has been used already.
Have you already created a new account with the new user name?
