I need very very simple help please  how to enable friends to get notifications when my six cameras notice  movement so they can respond in my absence.    I have looked on line.

There is a "Friend" account feature you can use.  The details on setup depends on a couple of factors:

  • Do the friends already have an Arlo account?
  • Do you see "Library" in your app menu?  Or do you see "Feed" and "Dashboard" instead?

Thank you for your reply. No they don’t have accounts. I sent them links to try that route but it became  complicated and they want “ arms length” . We gave  up. Also didn’t really understand if that was what we needed to do.  All we really want is for a still or clip of the activity to go them by email or text. No need to view or control cameras etc.  I see dashboard and  feed on my App.

The friend account option is the only one you have.  Arlo used to allow email notifications, but they discontinued that in Nov 2023.  FWIW, I think that was a bad move on their part.

Your friends would need to click on the "create account" link in the invite you send them via email (using a PC).  That would open their browser to my.arlo.com, where they would create an account.

Then they'd install the Arlo app on their phone, using those account credentials.

Thank you again. it would be helpful for me when on vacation to have neighbours get easy alerts.  If they were willing to create an account ( which I don’t know at all )  what happens then please ? I cannot see any web page with help on this - I am sure  I must be missing  guidance or instructions on how this is done  please ?

Arlo's instructions are here:

Note I am recommending having the friend accept the invite on their PC instead of the phone.  That works out better.
