Hello there,
I have between 400k and 800k of upload speed at any one time. I understand my streaming will be poor from the camera, however, will the motion detected uploads be at full HD quality or will these be poor too? Viz, will it cache the motion captured video, then upload it at full res, just taking a longer time to upload it? Or will that motion captured content be low quality too?
Thanks.
Mark

The upload streams at the same time as it's recorded so tranfer rate will be a major issue. The only way to get 720p quality is with better throughput since your connection will cause the quality to drop automatically, even if set for Best quality. You may be able to use Optimized for at least some videos (as long as it's only one at a time) which is 640p.

Drat, so probably worth cancelling the order and going for something that records down to a memory card or HD then I suppose? Ho hum. It looks like a cracking solution too - just not without enough internet 😞

Okay, so it can record it locally to USB too... however I guess thats at the same codec level / quality its streaming?
So if that quality is 140p because the Internet is so poor, then thats what will go to the memory stick too!?
Current speedtest gets me 0.68 meg... hummm... I feel the need to test this out...
Edit: So expanding on that, you could set up the device, remove Internet from it, and then it will only be able to record locally? Problem of slow upload solved...?

The only issue with that idea is that you would have no control of the modes ( arming /disarm , etc ) as the command go thru the server to the base unit
If leaving it ALWAYS armed, then it may work
Also , the drive must be ejected and used in another device to view the mp4 files

I wonder if it starts recording with no internet to figure out throughput what resolution it will attempt to record in locally? Full 1080?

It must be set up first before the internet fails...
And you'll never get 1080 out of a 720 camera 🙂
