How do I enable Static DHCP for Base Station VMB5000 so that Arlo Pro4 cameras will safely record video locally on a MicroSD card when port forwarding is enabled?

Setting a fixed IP address can be done in the network router by fixing the MAC address for the base/hub to the wanted IP address.

Refer to your router manual for instructions.

To be clear, that isn't needed for recording.  The Pro 4 cameras need to be paired with the base WiFi in order to get local recordings, so they don't need any port forwarding to record.

Port forwarding is one way to see the recordings when you aren't connected to your home network.  If you use that method, then you should make sure the smarthub gets a persistent local address from the router.  As @DannyBearAgain says, most routers have a feature that does that, so check the router manual.  It has a variety of names (IP address reservation, sometimes Mac address reservation, sometimes ARP reservation).

Technically this is not a static address (since the base is still using DHCP), but it has the same effect.
