Does closing account deactivate equipment?

I have an opportunity to buy some additional cameras, but want to make certain they are deactivated so I can use them.  The seller says "my account has been closed for months."     I am skeptical that closing the account frees up the cameras, but I cannot find the answer.

 

Does anyone know?  Thank you

Yes. Though, you may still need to factory reset the devices.
