Cameras will not sync to base station

The base station will not sync to my cameras. I followed direction and no light to sync will go on. The camera lights work in trying to sinc but end up red as the base station will not do anything. What next? Return ? This is a basic ARLO system from Net Gear VMB3000 model base station and 2 cameras

The most common mistake ( from older docs info ) is to hold the sync button on the base....

 

It is not a hold but a QUICK push, wait a few secs then push the sync button on the cameras.
