I bought a house which had Arlo installed and wasn't given any information on it. The previous owner actually passed away so it was sold by her estate (her children).

How do I first, make sure they don't have access to the system, and second, use the system myself? Hopefully I can get it to work, seems like a quality product.

Thanks!

Well. first , unplug the base unit and if it is off they will have no acces or cameras.

Also pull the batteries out or they will drain if the base is offline ( save them for later if any good )

Second, ask if they have the account password or they should at least know the prev owners email...you can contact Netgear and see if they can assist you in deleting the base unit from the account ( must be done before you can use it or it will never register )

At the very least, the serial number of the base unit will be needed to clear the old account.

If you get past number 2, you can open your own account with your email and password and use the system.

If you are unable to do #2 above, you could buy a one camera kit ( with base ) and at least use the other cameras with your new kit

( you don't say what type but will assume Arlo ( 4 batteries ) or Pro ( battery pack ) )
