I had to factory reset my base station (VMB3000) as I couldn't connect my cameras to it.

I can now see it on my wifi network but I don't remember the wifi password (had it for around 10 years now) and it's not on the back of the base station.

I have tried to connect physically to the same network and connect the base station using the browser version of ARLO, but it can't find the base station.

Does anyone have any ideas how I can 1) find the password or 2) connect to the base station physically and set up the cameras and maybe reset the wifi password.

Many thanks!

Looks like the factory reset and removing the base station from the account and re-adding did the trick.

Thanks for all your help with this!!

Are you using the browser on a pc that is connected to the local router with a Ethernet connection?

The arlo base stations are not accessible with wifi they connect to the internet using the Ethernet connection.

The arlo app connects to the internet to access the base station via the arlo backend servers.

Make sure the base/camera have been removed from the account before trying to readd them.

Performing a factory reset of the base may also be required.

Dont waste time contacting arlo customer support as they have no idea why the readd process doesn’t work.

yes - conecting to the base station via browser on a mac. both mac and base station are on the same LAN.

I did try to connect originally by the phone app and that needed to be conected by wifi to the base unit - hence the need for the wifi password.

I even tried connecting directly via ethernet (port to port) mac to base station but still couldn't connect.

By the sounds of it do I have to 'remove' the base station before trying to reconnect to it as a new device?

I already did a factory restart .

To use the mobile app to add devices the mobile needs to be connected to the local network router wifi not the base station wifi as it is a closed wifi just for the cameras. I.e. no base password is required as there is none.

So look for the local wifi SSID and password on the local network router to connect the mobile wifi.

You can still use the mobile app with cellular data but you will not be able to add devices.

Starting to think there could be an issue with the base station itself.

It is plugged in and I have GREEN internet light (blinks occasionally) - I have the base station and mac plugged into the same hub and still can't get the base station to be found. Won't find it on mobile app either.

It is quite old - can I just get a new base station and use the same cameras?

Although I had already done a factory reset I thought I would try another and now the base station as appeared on the browser app.

Finger crossed this has fixed the issue. Will keep you posted.
