trying to set up One Arlo camera for the first time. Did everything as instructed but the base station lights only the power LED. They all light up when first turned on then go out except for power button which starts off Amber then turns green.
The base station is attacked directly to my Netgear router(N600).but can't be "discovered" by the app.
I've tried the factory re-set a number of times but still no internet. Any ideas?
Is it defective?

How did you perform the reset? As of late last year, the process is to use only the reset button on the back until the LEDs flash amber. Don't try to use the sync button also - that's the old method.
The lack of any color on the Internet means the base isn't connected to the router. That can mean one of 3 things:
1) Bad cable. Try another.
2) Bad router port. Try another.
3) Bad base station port. Try the factory reset to get it working or return the system to the store for a new one.

i rebooted my asus router last night and now my base station will not connect to the internet (Internet LED). I've restarted the base station multple times as well resetting it. Prior to me restarting my router, everything was working great. I have 3 cameras and everything was fine.
originally (when i first set up the arlo system) i had the base station connected to a switch - everything worked fine with this set up. To troubleshoot, ive tried multiple ethernet cables, every port on that switch as well as multiple cables and ports on my router - all of which i've confirmed are working by pre-testing with my laptop.
i found this support thread - https://community.netgear.com/t5/Arlo-Wire-Free-camera/Arlo-Base-Station-VMB3010-not-connecting-to-w...
and assume port 80 is open. not sure how to config the 443 and udp 123 up in my router, but regardless, everything was working originally and i did nothing to the router in terms of security or firewall config when i rebooted it.
I'm pretty sure I'm just going to return this thing... very disappointed.

It's hard to say for sure what's going on from afar. I had my base station connected to my Asus RT-N66U router both through a switch as well as directly connected. It survived router reboots with no issue. What does the Internet LED show - off/amber? Sometimes the order of restarting matters - try powering off the router and base, then turn the router on and let it stabilize before turning the base on.
If that fails, a factory reset would be useful. Use the reset button on the back of the base until the LEDs flash amber. Let the base stabilize - you should have two green LEDs - the power and Internet. Did that help? If not, and within the store's return policy, return the system and swap for another since the base may have chosen to go belly-up.
