Arlo base station HELP. Can be powered via USB power socket?

I'm looking to buy the 3 camera arlo set but wanted to know if the base station can be powered via a USB power socket instead of using the normal power socket

No. It requires AC power and the dedicated power supply.

Why? Either way something has to be plugged in. Besides the base takes 12V while USB is 5V.
