I have 9 Arlo cameras of various models. But the only one causing me a problem is the original Arlo Wirefree I bought almost 3 years ago. Let me describe the problem:

1. The Night Vision is set to ON and the camera is set in a dark place.

2. When I click the "Live" button, the Night Vision works perfectly.

3. When I walk in front of the camera in the dark, the IR lights do come on and I do hear a click.

4. When the camera has detected motion and records, the first 1/2 second of the recording is visible before ( I assume the Night Vision shuts off) and I only see black for the rest of the recording.

I have reset the camera and base many times, but that does nothing. I do believe the camera worked properly when I first got it. My other 8 Arlo cameras all work as designed.

Netgear will do nothing as it's out of warranty. Any ideas to fix this problem?

Hometheatremave,

Try removing the camera from your base station and resync. Log in to your Arlo account and navigate to Settings > My Devices > select the camera > Remove Device.

Thanks. Unfortunately I've done this many times without sucess, as I said in my original post. It just seems that this unit is defective, as none of the newer units (H16) that are replacing the original Wirefree (H7) exhibit this behavior.

Hometheatremave,

Check the camera settings and make sure night vision is enabled, if it is already, try disabling the night vision and then save. Live stream your camera to verify the night vision is off (check for the faint red IR leds) then navigate back to your settings, toggle night vision on, save and then test again to see if you experience the same results.
