I was wondering if these camera's are ip cameras and how i would go about accessing them with a different software like union cam or i spy. or be able to get into the base station.

I do not think you can use other software to look at them. It comes with Android and iOS apps, as well as a nice webinterface.

you can not access the data stream from the camera... the Arlo cameras only talk to the Arlo base.
