I was having a frustrating issue with my Arlio Security Lights after I was forced to update to the new Arlo User Experience (Arlo knows as UX4).
My 3 Security Lights stopped working. Only showed a brief amber light on motion but did not turn on as designed. I could turn on manually. I have debugged this myself and can offer work arounds. I am not sure if Arlo will fix this as they keep telling me the lights are end of life, Not acceptable, as I paid a lot of money for my Arlo System and expect when they change their interface, my investment still works. I will keep pushing, but for my fellow Arlo customers... and Arlo Monitor who will helpfully take this forward....here is what I discovered. I will cut and paste below right from my Support Request 44547043:
+++++++++++++++++++++
OK Arlo Support, I have made progress on my own "debugging" your system. Here is what I found. 2 important things.
1) The amber lights (see the photo I sent in the record) is the system defaulting always for some reason to the "Motion Detection Test" even though I did not request one to be performed. This is a bug. I have found that every time I make an adjustment to the Security Lights default settings, it automatically defaults to the test and shows an amber light upon motion. The way to stop this from happening (work around for this bug ) is to actually perform the motion detection test from the app. After the test is completed, the camera will no longer do this. However, if you change the default settings again, it will happen again... but you can always stop it by actually performing the motion detection test. This is clearly a bug since loading UX4.
2) Unfortunately even though this amber light stops happening, the Security Light does not turn as designed with motion, only manually. It now does nothing with motion. So for one of my 3 lights having this same issue, which has it's own Arlo bridge I deleted and re-installed both the light and bridge. When they came on line, this same bug described in #1 revealed itself (it still happens) HOWEVER, when I do the work around of actually performing the "Motion Detection Test" and not changing the Deafault settings again, now the Light works as designed. So the work around above fixes the issue created by UX4 but the lights will ONLY work as designed after the work around if both the Lights and bridges are re-installed fresh AFTER UX4 is upgraded.
So there are (2) Bugs which need to be fixed by Arlo development for UX4. 1) Security Lights no longer work at all. Work around is to delete and re-install Bridge and Light. 2) Lights incorrectly defaults upon motion to the Amber "Motion Detection Test" versus working as designed. "Work around" is to perform the Motion Detection Test, and do it every time you change any lights settings. This bug also needs to be fixed.
My lights now work with my work arounds, one is a one time action (delete and re-install bridge and lights) and the other is one I have to do every time I change my light settings (perform a motion test) but it is not fair to have to keep doing these work arounds. Arlo Development , Please confirm you understand this and will work on fixing this. Thank you.

Thank you Arlo Moderator. Please keep us informed on outcome. Also if any other Arlo users are experiencing these or other issues with the Security Lights after installing UX4 please let us know. All 3 of my lights continue to operate as designed (maybe better than ever) since I implemented the 2 work arounds. I am glad I did not abandon them which was a serious consideration while fighting through these issues.

Moderator: Support is just not getting it. They are asking for useless information in the last update. I have diagnosed the bug and they should have what they need. I am closing my problem because support has no clue. Only product development can fix this. It continues to work for me only using the work arounds.

I am having very similar issues, and am being told by Arlo support that the lights are EOL and they are offering discounts on new camera lights, which I don't want.
Background:
- I recently added two brand new Arlo Security lights (purchased from eBay) to replace a pre-existing light that recently failed
- I have one pre-existing light that was working correctly even after the upgrade to UX4
Problem:
1 - When I added the new lights, none of the motion detection features on the new hardware function, and the "default mode settings" menu item does not appear for the new lights. It continues to appear correctly for the pre-existing light. I can manually activate and deactivate the lighting on the new lights through the app, but that is of almost zero value.
2 - I have noticed the amber light issue on the pre-existing light but it's a minor compared the the first issue.
I have deleted the bridge, the pre-existing lights, the new lights and re-added them all to my system. I was able to upgrade the firmware on the old lights. So all lights are on the same firmware version. Still having the above issues.
Based on this and another thread, I will try deleting the hardware from my system one more time (post firmware upgrade) to see if that makes a difference.
I'm still hoping to use these new lights since I like the product.

@NickDi , thank you very much for your post!
Update on my earlier post:
1. By deleting, resetting, and re-installing the bridge, my pre-existing light, and the two new lights (after the latest firmware upgrade had been applied successfully), I found that the two new lights now have the "default mode settings" option that was previously missing.
2. I encountered issue #1 reported by @NickDi above. I performed the recommended workaround. Thank you again!
3. Then, in addition to doing the motion test workaround, I discovered that I needed to add Device Rules for all three lights under my active Mode on the Routines tab found at the bottom of the Arlo iOS app. Only after adding my devices here, did they perform as expected.
Not a user friendly experience, and Arlo support continues to leave me voicemails to purchase new hardware to replace the "malfunctioning" security lights.

I passed away hours on two security lights and a bridge not working. I stumbled across your post fixing their screwup and it solved my issues in ten minutes. Thanks so much for doing their job for them.
