I have been trying to troubleshoot the UNKNOWN ERROR which does not allow me to login to the Arlo Secure app on iPhone 17 for the past 15 days but the Arlo support has not been able to resolve.
This is Case No. 45099975 which has been escalated according to Arlo support, but no resolution since more than two weeks.
The Arlo Secure app works well on my older iPhone 16, and on a computer.

Thank you for your continued patience as we work to resolve this symptom. In the meantime, please try the following temporary workaround:
- Open Settings.
- Tap General > iPhone Storage.
- Wait for the list of apps to load, then select Arlo Secure.
- Tap Offload App, then confirm by tapping Offload App again.
- Do not reinstall the app.
Locate the app still on your iPhone and open it.

Many years ago, there was a telephone number to call to speak to Arlo technical support, which has been discontinued. Now, the only way to speak to Arlo technical support is to request a call through Arlo Secure app. However, when the Arlo Secure app doesn’t work because of issues such as the current one where the app doesn’t install or cannot be logged into on the new iPhone 17, there is no option to reach Arlo technical support.
Being an Arlo customer since the beginning of Arlo systems with 25 to 30 cameras, it is not productive.

Now I am in the FIFTH week trying to resolve this issue of Arlo Secure app’s incompatibility with iPhone 17 or the current version of latest IOS.
With this kind of delay, I am delinquent in returning my older iPhone 16 back to Apple for trade-in. And I have to keep the iPhone 16 because only through the working Arlo Secure app on it I can contact Arlo telephone support.
Maybe it is time for me to trash my whole Arlo system and switch to a better system.

Can you try offloading the app as well with these steps:
1. Open Settings.
Tap General → iPhone Storage.
Scroll down and tap Arlo Secure.
Tap Offload App → confirm by tapping Offload App again.
This will remove the app but keep all your app data (like your login info and settings).
2. Go back to your Home Screen.
You’ll still see the Arlo Secure app icon, but it will have a small cloud download symbol next to it.
Tap the app icon, our iPhone will reinstall it automatically from the App Store.
Once it finishes downloading, the app will open normally.

The app still works properly on my iPhone 16 which has iOS Version 18.6.2. Because of the issues on the iPhone 17 having the latest iOS 26, I have not updated the iPhone 16 to the latest iOS 26.

Same error message. The app doesn’t work.
I followed the steps. While offloading the app, the app gets removed by itself and therefore while opening the app, the app automatically gets reinstalled. The result is the same error message. The Arlo Secure app doesn’t work on iPhone 17.

This proposed solution is not new but someone had previously posted and I had responded at the time.
Same result. Same error message. The app doesn’t work.
Arlo has been trying to resolve this issue since seven (7) weeks and the issue is still unresolved.

Am I the only iPhone 17 user having issues with the Arlo Secure app? I haven’t seen any other discussion in this Arlo community discussions and hence the question.

Thank you for your message.
I did get a telephone number to call into Arlo technical support and hence I was able to return my iPhone 16 as trade in.

I was hoping that the latest update to the IOS will resolve the issues with the Arlo app’s non-compatibility with iPhones, but it didn’t.
Now, I have found that the Arlo app doesn’t work not only on iPhones 17, but not on prior iPhones also for new Arlo app installations, current and prior IOS versions. All these point to some serious issues with the Arlo Secure app.

The app is working fine on my iPhone.
Can you give some more details on what you've found (and your source)?

Which brand and model of iPhone do you have? Have you tried to delete the Arlo Secure app from your iPhone, reinstall the current version of Arlo Secure app? After the reinstall, are you able to login into the newly installed Arlo Secure app?
Before I received my iPhone 17, Arlo Secure app was working well on my older iPhone 16 (which I traded in for the iPhone 17). The other versions of iPhones that I attempted to install Arlo Secure app are the older iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Pro Max and the app gives the same error message of “Unknown error” and doesn’t allow to log into the Arlo Secure app. The source is my personal experience.
This issue has been unresolved for about 12 weeks now, under Case No. 45099975.

iPhone 12 mini, currently running iOS 18.7.2. Generally I don't manually take a major iOS release right away. So I'm not running iOS 26 yet.

Just tried that on an old iPad running iOS 16 (most recent iOS it can run). Initially I did get an "unknown error", followed by a json serialization error. I force-closed the app, and tried again - then it worked.

I had tried to install the Arlo Secure app on iPhone 13 Pro Max running IOS 18.6.2 but the app gave “unknown error” message and didn’t allow me to login.

As I said, I saw that error on my iPad also. But was able to log in after force-closing the app (and re-entering my credentials). Did you try restarting the phone?

Yes. It didn’t work for me, even when it was attempted with Arlo Technical support on the telephone, along with multiple other ways on the iPhone 17.
