Written March 9, 2024 -- Is Arlo going to re-consider the ban of Arlo Secure from Mexico? I am an American who owns a small boutique hotel in Mexico. We bought three Pro 4 cameras via Amazon Mexico. In one day, we installed all three. The process was easy. After cleaning up, we ordered four more Pro 4 cameras via Amazon Mexico. Upon completing the Amazon Mexico order, we tried to sign up for the Arlo Secure subscription. We made several unsuccessful attempts. We searched the support pages to understand the problem, and to our surprise and disappointment, we found that Mexico was not on the list of accepted countries. We immediately canceled the Amazon Mexico order for four more Pro 4 cameras. We have used exclusively Nest cameras for many years. After Google took over Nest, we were disappointed in the difficulty during the installation process (connecting cameras to the internet), as well as the difficulty in viewing the full footage on Google Home. We read an article on CNN regarding the best new security cameras. The article recommended Arlo. Trusting the information in the article, we decided to try Arlo. In hindsight, we only wish we knew more before buying seven Arlo cameras.

FWIW, there is a workaround if you have a US payment method.

If you create a new account with a VPN enabled that terminates in the US, you will find that you can purchase the subscription.  Note you disable the VPN after you create the account, as it needs to be off when you move the cameras to the new account.

You move them by removing them from your existing account and then adding them to the the new one.

If you want to try this, I suggest creating the account (with the VPN), then turn the VPN off and move one camera to the new account.  Then try subscribing.  Once you've confirmed that works, you can move the other cameras.

When done, you can delete the old account - and if you wish, change the email address/login for the new account to match the old one.

Another issue found is that does not detect your location for automations in Mexico. Any suggestions
