Hi All
Those of you who still use Arlo HD: I just discovered that the camera will work with two batteries/rechargeable only; you need to place them in either of the +/- slots, and on the understanding that the battery level will be at 50%.
This is good to know in any kind of scenarios, such as if you only have two batteries/rechargeable available at a time etc.

What do you not understand?
Arlo HD runs on four batteries/rechargeable batteries CRC123a.
However, it's possible to run it on two only.

While it has always been possible to run the Arlo HDs on 2 batteries instead of 4, there can be issues.
In the beginning, Arlo made ( beta ) a camera like the HD with two cells. But the regular use of 4 cells was to lengthen the life of the cells by switching back and forth between the two pairs.
Issues with 2 cells;
1) battery life is now half and/or less
2) current draw while IR lights are on will result in much less battery life.
As a PS... We ( some of the old timers here ) have tested many rechargeable cells in this unit and have found MOST not to live up to the ratings listed on the batteries.. Not to mention the rechargeables last 1/4 the time if only two are used ( due to each cell being half the capacity of non-rechargeable )
old thread by me;
The Arlo HD camera's power scale was adjusted way back to allow for the different batteries.
A 123 cell when new is really 3.2 volts and the drop out for the camera is about 2.75v ( when needed to be replaced )
A rechargeable is 3.7v and when off charge are 4.2 v ( will drop to about 4.1 after short time ).... there is no issue using these cells in the Arlo HD and I run a few with the Tenergy cells.
The major diff you will see is that the capacity of the battery is only half of a non-rechargeable , SO the battery will last about 1/2 the time... not an issue since you recharge them. ( any 3.7 v rechargeable can not physically fit more chems in the size cell to produce more power so any rated higher than about 750mah are false claims )
The tenergy cells are good and also safe which is very important... some china cells in the past have cause over heating issues as they don't have over-charge/over drain protection like the tenergy's
PS, some of the 3.2 or 3.6 v cells don't work well , esp ( IIRC ) the lifepo4 type was one of them
BTW, there are SOME other good quality 123 cells that also have protection built in ( check the old threads ) but the Tenergy is the only one approved b Arlo
