Video Door Bell disappointment - video doorbell only records to the cloud with a subscription.

So, like the rest of you, I just discovered that the video doorbell only records to the cloud with a subscription. I thought because I had the Arlo Pro 2 base station and cameras, the doorbell would record just like them. I don't think I can recommend this camera to anyone any longer. I think it is really crappy of Arlo/Netgear to force you to use their cloud system. Time to search for some hacks.

You could look into direct access to local storage. https://kb.arlo.com/000062337/What-is-Direct-Storage-Access-and-how-do-I-use-it
You would need to purchase a smarthub to use that.
FWIW, Netgear's been out of the picture for almost two years now.
