I just removed my old doorbell and instead of wires there are two copper nubs. Do I just pull these out with a needlenose pliers? Thanks.

Did the wires on the old doorbell just directly connect into that socket?

Or were there connectors attached to those wires?

I have not seen any wires. I am attaching a picture of the old doorbell.

No wires on the back?  If so, the doorbell must have a plug the pushes onto the socket.

Basically you have two options.  One is to remove the socket, and attach the doorbell to the wires attached to the back of it.

The other is to try to re-use the socket - either

  • pushing the doorbell wires into it (if they fit securely)
  • removing the plug on the back of the doorbell (if there is on) and attaching the doorbell wires to it.
  • perhaps finding some suitable spade connectors to attach to the doorbell wires.

Thank you I think I will go ahead and try and remove the socket.
