My microphone is X'd out on my phone by default when the bell rings. I have to tap it to talk with the people.

I had the same problem on my android phone. Here's how we fixed it. In the arlo application, go into device settings for the doorbell, then call settings, then move "Mute" to off. For some reason they mute the speaker by default.
