Hi all,

I've had this problem with my Video Doorbell since the purchase about a month back.

I've made a video of the problem using a different mobile phone and someone calling at the door:

Steps:

  1. Whenever someone rings at the door, I pick up in the Arlo App using my Google Pixel 3 (Android 10).
  2. I turn on the microphone in the App, and as of that moment, a weird distorted sound is coming out of the doorbell.
  3. Even if I speak, it is muffled / high pitched and distorted as it comes out. Either way, the person at the door can totally not understand what I'm saying. So there's no way I can have a conversation with the person.
  4. I can hear the person at the door very well on my phone, and video work well also. They just hear messed up sound whenever I speak (but also if I don't, just strange static)

This problem does not occur if I open the App on my Pixel 3, and start Live View, and then enable microphone. Then the audio of me talking through my phone is coming out crystal clear.

What I did trying to resolve it:

  • Checked if there was an update for the Doorbell
  • Restarted the device
  • Reinstalled the App

I have a background in software engineering (Android app development) so if any advanced logging information is required about how the app behaves on my phone, I can obtain it through Android Studio logcat. Let me know if you, or any developers, need further information.
