I'm trying to wire an Arlo wired video doorbell to a Nicor chime doorbell and I can't get a straight answer from the community board. One post says it's not compatible because Nicor is DC and it requires AC. Another post says it "is" compatible if you "don't" use the power kit. I tried it "without" the power kit and the chime just continued to ring. Does anyone have a "good" answer for me? I'm certainly no expert but I would like some direction from one. Some suggest that it requires a professional install with a new transformer. Thoughts? Help please.

Look up the specs for your specific chime model. If it's DC, then the Arlo doorbells are not compatible. If it's AC, then it depends on the transfomer output for the chime. The AVD1001 requires 16-24 VAC and at least 10 VA.
FWIW, while Arlo doesn't maintain a chime compatibility list, Ring does (and Ring doorbells are fairly similar). Ring says Nicor is not compatible.
